The Real World: Wilmington

This is the true story … of four family members … who chose to move to the south … live together and have their lives blogged … to find out what happens … when people stop being polite … and start having babies … The Real World: Wilmington.

11 Month Birthday July 17, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — Christine @ 7:14 pm

Well, this was our last monthly cake before the big shebang.  Hard to believe we started this tradition when Elly was 1 week old and actually kept up with it all year, I’m crazy like that. Hopefully I will find the time to celebrate monthly birthdays with subsequent kids, if not, I will have to find a way to delete the evidence of Elly’s cakes from the blogosphere. Jamie is known as The Blogfather so I’m sure he’d be able to whack my birthday posts.

Even though I’m sad to see this tradition come to an end, it seems like good timing. Getting a shot with Elly and her cake was damn near impossible this month! I may have instilled a cake phobia in my daughter because she scurried away or fussed anytime it came near her. And, the days of Elly in the Bumbo seat on top of the dining table are long gone (according to the warning label on the Bumbo they actually never should have begun-oops). Ah ha moment: maybe if we actually let Elly eat any of the cakes, she wouldn’t be so eager to scoot when she saw one.

Here’s what happened when we put Elly in the Bumbo seat (this was after we tried it on the table and she immediately started to cry.)  She would’ve gotten out sooner if those scrumptious thighs hadn’t gotten in her way.

We proceded to chase her around the house trying to get that magical shot. Here’s our best one.

Another Update July 9, 2009

I bought Elly a pool yesterday and she had a great time splashing, kicking and playing with all of her “toys”.

Today she finally met Jules who was kind enough to let Elly take her awesome car for a spin.

We’ve been very busy with friends and family this week and although it’s been fun, we can’t wait to have our Daddy/Husband back with us!

Update for Daddy July 7, 2009

A little peek into Elly’s day…

She had a playdate with her friends Sam and Charlotte and was a fussy bunny most of the time but passie saved the day. She ended up taking over a 3 hour nap today. She must have been over tired from all the celebrating we did in Annapolis during the weekend.

Tonight when I was getting her changed and in her jammies I couldn’t resist letting her crawl around in just her diaper for a bit. Her legs are getting stronger and steadier. She was looking out to see what Uncle David and his buddies were up to in the yard.

I wonder what tomorrow will bring…we miss you!

4th of July Weekend

Filed under: Uncategorized — Christine @ 12:31 am

We spent the holiday weekend in Annapolis, MD with friends from JMU. Life at JMU was just slightly different from life now, and by slightly I mean enormously, hugely, gigantically, continue with various synonyms, different.

By day we were are at the beck and call of our angels, as it should be.  By night we were able to let loose a bit and relax even if we were often checking our baby monitors, listening outside bedroom doors to make sure all was well, and soothing babies back to sleep.

It was fun spending time with everyone and seeing all the kids together. Thank you to our amazing hosts!

Happy 1st Father’s Day! July 6, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — Christine @ 12:32 pm

This post is so late because we left our camera charger in VA, luckily we have been reunited with it!

Our sweet and funny lady only deserves the best and I am happy to say that she has the best Dad in Jamie. Thanks for taking good care of Elly and showing her tons of love and affection.

Reasons Elly Loves Daddy:

  • He uses silly voices when he reads.
  • He’s a fun jungle gym.
  • He gives shoulder rides.
  • He takes her swimming at the beach and pool.
  • He makes Mommy happy.
  • He finds “passies” in the middle of the night without complaining.
  • He dances with her to his records.
  • He sings her songs.
  • He serves food.
  • He is always loving towards her no matter what.

Jamie got me an Elly mug for Christmas and I love it so much that I had to get one for him.
