2 Month Check Up October 28, 2008

Elly recently visited the pediatrician for her 2 month check up. She weighed in at just over 12 pounds (85th percentile) and is now 23 inches long (90th percentile), she’s our growing girl! She is meeting all the appropriate milestones (my favorite being her precious smile) and is in good health.

Little (big) Elly did have to get several shots which she wasn’t too pleased about but she was a trooper. She ran a slight fever from the vaccines but the doctors said that’s a normal side effect. Our next wellness visit is in December.

Pumpkin Party

We went to our neighbors house for a pumpkin carving party over the weekend. They really know how to throw a party and make everyone feel so welcome!  Our little pumpkin got lots of attention at the party and was held by half of the neighborhood. Thanks for the outfit Great Grandma!

Indian Summer

We took advantage of the warm weather by taking Elly to the beach in the late afternoon a couple days recently. The sun, sand, and surf had a calming effect on all of us and I loved experiencing it as a family!

Otis also enjoyed a trip to the beach (finally…) and even made a friend while he was there.

Our Little Pumpkin October 10, 2008

We took our annual trip to Cox’s farm in Vienna last weekend when we were visiting Virginia. In past years we brought our first baby Otis with us and posed him among the pumpkins for pictures galore. Otis is still greatly loved but has been demoted a tad because this year we took Elly Bell instead and proceeded to make her pose for tons of pictures as we doted on her the whole time.

Elly got her first pumpkin and first ride in a red wagon.

Talk about some fall family fun!

Meeting New Friends

We took Elly home to Northern Virginia for the first time last weekend where she met a lot of new people. It was great to finally introduce her to some of our friends!

Uncle David was thrilled to meet Elly. Can't you see the excitement in his face?

School Days

Elly and I visited the school I worked at for 7 years. It was weird being back with Elly since the last time we were there she was still in my belly! I loved getting the chance to catch up with good friends who I miss seeing everyday.

The new crop of 1st graders were very interested in checking out Elly. When we popped into the 2nd grade classrooms my former students were excited to meet Elly and had some interesting questions for me like:
“Does she talk?”
“Does she have teeth?”
“Why is she crying?”
“Is it a boy or girl?”
“When is her birthday?”
and the most awkward question of the day award goes to…
“Does she drink Mommy’s milk?” (um, whut?!)
