Elly got her first taste of baby food today, rice cereal. I think more of it ended up around her mouth and on her bib than down the hatch, but she did a great job!

She only ate a little bit before giving signals that she didn’t want any more. We’ll try again tomorrow!

Sitting Pretty

Elly is working on a new skill, sitting up on her own.

She is able to do it for less than a minute before toppling over, which doesn’t seem to bother her at all. She is learning to put her arms out and use those to help her balance.

Return to Red Robin

Filed under: Uncategorized — Christine @ 9:32 pm

As our blog followers clearly remeber, Elly’s 1st big outing was to Red Robin when she was about 4 weeks old. We made our grand return over the weekend to the kid friendly chain. Elly was cooing and squealing as loud as she ever has through the whole meal and we could barely hear her.  I saw another young kid have a complete meltdown, his screams were like whispers in that place. It was awesome!

Now Jamie and I know that no matter what stage Elly is in, we always have Red Robin to escape to. If we end up there a lot over the years I may have to stray from my regular order, the Whiskey River Chicken Burger (hold the mayo).

Movie Night: Benjamin Button January 26, 2009

Jamie and I watched Benjamin Button over the weekend one night after putting Elly Bell to bed. You are probably wondering how we did that since it’s still in theaters, well, we know people, duh. These people are skilled at finding current movies online someplace then downloading them, then sharing them with us since they know we don’t get out much.

Ahead of time Jamie had told me he heard there were lots of similiarities to Forrest Gump…check this out.

Inauguration and Snow Day January 21, 2009

We happily watched Barack Obama become our 44th President!  We are very lucky to have such an eloquent, gracious and inspiring man as our leader.

We never thought we’d see snow here…but then again, many people probably thought they’d never see an African-American elected and sworn in as President of the United States. Anything is possible!

MLK Jr. Day January 20, 2009

A lot of progress has been made in our country since this speech…

I hope more and more people will strive to make Martin Luther King Jr.’s dreams a reality; peace, equality, acceptance. I plan to teach my children about his dreams, imagine our world if everyone did.
