Memorial Weekend May 28, 2009

It was a lovely long weekend. Thank you to all of the heroes who have given their lives for our country.

We met a couple friends at a nearby park for a swing and a stroll. Elly got to see a dozen or so turtles swimming in the pond.

She realized I spy on her through the sun roof of her ride. resize sun roof

Elly enjoyed a swim in her new floatie. Only the cool kids wear long sleeves in the pool. Our swim was followed by a yummy cookout.

We also were lucky enough to have our friends Luke and Kelly visit us for brunch on Monday. It was fun showing you where we live and Elly loved having some new people to play with!

Food Glorious Food May 20, 2009

Elly has been enjoying more finger foods lately. She’s getting good at picking up small pieces, although those avocado bits are slippery little suckers!

This video was taken around 8.5 months.

Berry Sweet at 9 Months

Elly celebrated her 9 month birthday on May 12th.

She also recently had her 9 month check up. She is a healthy girl who weighs 17.10 pounds and is 26 inches long. She has been “talking” more lately and started crawling with her belly on the ground around 8.5 months. She seems content getting around like this, which is fine with me because I can still keep up with her! Elly has also been trying more finger foods. She’s having fun feeding herself but also loves being fed, she’ll take food any way she can get it!

Best Mother’s Day Ever May 12, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — Christine @ 2:58 am

I know it was my 1st Mother’s Day, but it really was the best ever. Things I loved about Mothers Day:

  1. Waking up to fresh cut pineapple
  2. Hot pink fragrant peonies
  3. My diaper duties were minimal (J was shocked by some changes that have taken place)
  4. Lunch and dinner feeding duties were cut in half
  5. Reading US Weekly on the beach (say it aint so Jon and Kate!), while Jamie went walking with Elly
  6. Picking strawberries, that was some good clean fun!
  7. Eating homemade strawberry ice cream with fresh strawberry topping (haven’t enjoyed ice cream that much since there was an Elly in my belly)
  8. Hanging on the beach with Jamie & Elly (I live by the beach, still can’t believe that!)
  9. Italian dinner date with J & E
  10. New Elly charm necklace
  11. Sweet card from Jamie

I thanked Jamie for making the day perfect and especially for helping so much with Elly. He joked and said it was like she had two Mommies for the day.

I feel very spoiled and blessed. Thanks again Jamie for being a wonderful husband and thank you Elly for continuing to bring lots of joy into my life. I’m so happy that I’m your Mommy.

Cougar in the Oven May 4, 2009

Jamie, Elly, and I headed to Raleigh on Saturday so that I could go to a baby shower. The hostesses did a great job! I am grateful to Jamie for making the trip with me so that I didn’t have to part with Elly for the night. I wouldn’t have made the trip without them, and I am very thankful that they came so that I could spend time with old friends.

I feel lucky to be in touch with so many friends from high school, my Mom even commented about how amazing that is. Whenever we get together it feels like no time has passed. I know we’ve gotten older and are doing grown up things like holding down jobs, buying homes, getting married, and having babies, but it doesn’t feel like 13 years have passed since we graduated from high school!

You are all wonderful and beautiful friends and I hope that we can get together again soon (Jessica too!!). Elly will also love to see you all again since she was showered with so much love and attention. I am looking forward to meeting the new little ones who are both due on July 8th!
