Elly had her last day of school in the 3-year-old classroom last month. It seems like only yesterday and yet a lifetime ago that I was waddling down the hall dropping her off tearfully for her first day in the 2-year-old class. She happily went to school and loved spending time with her teachers and her sweet little friends. It was always fun hearing about the things that went on in her preschool classroom. Well, all that I could drag out of her. I think I found out the most about her day as she played in bed at night acting out or singing experiences from school.
Elly has a late summer birthday and will just barely make the cut off to go to kindergarten when she turns five. I’ve been secretly hoping that she will show some signs that indicate she could use a year of pre-k before being sent off to full day kindergarten. Thinking about sending her to school everyday all day (we’re full day kindergarten here) is heartbreaking. I know it’s a natural part of life but come on, that is going to be hard y’all! Time to start teaching her to walk loudly in line, never raise her hand, and to run around in circles during group time. Maybe that will do it?
