We recently had Miles baptised at the church we sometimes attend and it felt even more meaningful being there after all the love they showed us before we went to see Miles’s pediatric neurologist. While the pastor was holding him and baptizing him Miles put his little hand on the pastor’s face, like he was blessing him as well. He was an angel as the pastor walked around the church so that everyone could take a look at him and welcome him. He definitely has not entered into a ‘stranger anxiety’ phase yet.
We decked the big guy out in white, I just couldn’t picture him in one of the more traditional baptism/christening outfits, so I went with this ensemble. He kind of reminded me of a member of Boys II Men. I didn’t put his pants on him until we were inside the church knowing that any white item of clothing is just begging for some explosive poop. Luckily that didn’t happen until we were home. He also managed to pee on himself during a diaper change, “He wanted to baptise himself,” said soon-to-be Aunt Tiffany.
We had a nice relaxing lunch followed by some cake back at our house after the service. It was wonderful to be able to celebrate with family and friends!
