Super Bowl February 10, 2010

I was happy to see a Saints Super Bowl victory! My reasons for cheering them on; they had never been to or won a Super Bowl, New Orleans the city deserves the happiness that comes with a Super Bowl win, and Drew Brees seems like a stand up and charitable guy. Not girly reasons at all. I made a New Orleans themed dinner and dessert, both were delish. Thank you Jamie for going to the store and getting all of our ingredients! Here are the recipes if you feel like making them sometime.

New Orleans Style Bread Pudding with Chocolate Sauce:

I had never had bread pudding before so I was a little skeptical but this dessert is amazing. We are still enjoying leftovers! It reminds me a bit of french toast, then when you had the homemade chocolate sauce and whipped cream, OMG is all I have to say.

I had also never had jambalaya before. This recipe was really easy and tasty, I will definitely make it again. I didn’t make it spicy so Elly could have some too. The only thing I would do differently is add less rice because it didn’t cook in the time specified. I had to add some more liquid and give it more time.

Elly wasn’t all that into the Super Bowl other than occassionally stopping what she was doing, pointing to the tv, and shouting “ball!”. But she was into the PUPPY Bowl which airs on Animal Planet. For those of you who haven’t had the joy of seeing a Puppy Bowl before (yes, there have been multiple Puppy Bowls) you should definitely check it out. It comes complete with a water bowl cam in which you get a shot of puppies lapping up water and stomping through bowls, a halftime show starring who else but kittens, and cheerleaders who are actually bunnies. You are wondering who mans the Goodyear Blimp from above, well hamsters do, that’s who. There are announcers, replays, and player introductions. I just about burst into a million pieces from all that cuteness paired with seeing how much Elly loved it!

Watching the Puppy Bowl

We hope you all had fun watching the Super Bowl too!

Sounds fun. We are huge fans of breadpudding; discovered it when pregnant with Sam! We were happy for a saints victory as well.
