Christmas Card Out-takes December 1, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — Christine @ 4:22 am

We bravely attempted to take the perfect photos of Elly and Otis for our Christmas card this year. We got Elly dolled up in her green Christmas dress complete with tights and Santa hat. Otis had on his festive collar so he was also ready. They looked the part, but acting the part, now that’s a whole different ball game.

The photo shoot took place at the beach, which was probably the key mistake that we made, for several reasons. One of which being that the beach makes Otis go utterly, certifiably, bonkers. Those of you who have met Otis might be thinking, wait a minute, but he’s always crazy. Yes, he is crazy when we have visitors at our house and I am telling you that the crazy factor is upped when the beach is involved.  He behaves like a wild beast who has just been released after 25 years in solitary confinement. He runs all over the place, tongue lolling from side to side as he gallops around the sand and in and out of the ocean. And I will spare you the details of what ingesting salt water and sand does to his bowels. Needless to say, it was dang near impossible to get him to sit still for a picture.

Elly is not so much the fan of sitting still at the beach either. And trying to get both baby and dog to sit still and look at the camera might be practically impossible. We weren’t able to accomplish it on this particular day. I had a vision of what I wanted the photo to be. HAD being the key word. I’m not sure what we’ll end up using, but here are a couple out takes that just didn’t make the cut.

Who was in charge of making the scary Snowman? No wonder Elly is crying and Otis is crazed.
Remember – scary pumpkins – Happy Snowmen.
