Riverfest October 7, 2009

We went to Riverfest downtown over the weekend. There were lots of people, vendors, and performers down by the river, including adults dressed as pirates having sword fights. Awkward.

My Dad had his boat docked along the  river so that’s where we spent most of the day until needing to get Elly home for a nap, if that’s what you call sleeping for 30 minutes then waking as the world’s fussiest 13 and a half month old in the state of North Carolina. We distracted her with a bath, which she loves, and dinner, which she loves even more. Luckily she became a much happier little lady and went to bed easily.

We had been planning all day to head back downtown for the fireworks later that night because we could watch them right from my Dad’ s boat, an awesome vantage point.  But decided that we wouldn’t wake Elly since she had a rough afternoon sleep wise. At 10 till 9 she woke up on her own, stood up in her crib, happy as a clam so we went for it. We rushed out the door and made it to the river just as the fireworks were starting. Elly seemed to enjoy the lights and didn’t mind the loud noise. She loved waving at all the people passing by after the show.

It was a day filled with good clean family fun!
